Shabnbam Khanna was born in India, and moved to the United States in 1984. She attended Hunter College of the City University of New York, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Political Science & English in 1996.
While going to school at Hunter College, Shabnam worked full-time at a law firm as a legal assistant. Shabnam has volunteered for Sakhi, a non-profit organization helping south asian women dealing with domestic violence, as well as for the Jewish Home 7 Hospital for the elderly in New York City. After working for four years as a legal assistant, Shabnam decided to further her career by applying to law schools in U S, as well as UK. In 1997, Shabnam enrolled at the University of Bristol College of Law in Bristol, England.
Shabnam completed her mandatory forty hour mediation training from the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago. She has her professional law license to practice in the 1st Judicial Department of the Appellate Division in New York.
