Dr. Scott Hoye — Psychologist in Chicago’s Loop

Book a Free Phone Consult

Scott Hoye, Psy.D.

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist in Illinois and New Mexico. I'm the founder of Chicago Psychology Services, a clinician-owned group practice in Chicago’s Loop. I work with adults—especially professionals, creatives, and caregivers—who feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, trauma responses, burnout, relationship strain, or the emotional toll of chronic pain and illness.

My approach is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and mind–body oriented. That means we’ll pay attention to what’s happening in your thoughts and emotions and what your nervous system is doing—because lasting change often requires working with both.

Practical Service

Therapy with me is collaborative and structured. We’ll clarify what you want to be different, identify what’s keeping you stuck, and build a plan that fits your life. Depending on your needs, we may integrate CBT, MBT, relational/psychodynamic work, mindfulness/somatic tools, and mind–body methods to help reduce symptoms and increase resilience.

Connection

Just as important as tools is the relationship. I aim to create a space where you feel respected, understood, and not judged—where we can talk honestly about what you’re carrying and what you need. Many people I work with are used to functioning at a high level while privately struggling. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and reconnect with yourself and the people you care about.

Specialties & Who I Work With

I work primarily with adults and older teens. Some of the concerns I most often help with include:

  • Trauma and dissociative disorders
  • Anxiety, panic, and chronic stress
  • Depression and mood concerns
  • Chronic pain and rehabilitation concerns
  • Chronic illness, cancer, and health-related anxiety
  • Grief, loss, and major life transitions
  • ADHD and diagnostic clarification through psychological testing

I have a particular interest in working with:

  • Professionals and caregivers who feel overwhelmed, burned out, or “stuck”
  • Creatives and performers (artists, actors, musicians, writers) navigating blocks, performance anxiety, or identity questions
  • Individuals who have tried traditional talk therapy before and are looking for a more integrative, mind–body approach.

Mind-Body Specialities

For some clients, talk therapy alone isn’t enough—especially when symptoms are driven by nervous system activation, chronic stress physiology, or pain/illness cycles. When appropriate, I integrate mind–body approaches that help you build self-regulation skills and shift patterns that live in both mind and body.

  • Biofeedback:
Learn to regulate stress responses using real-time physiological feedback and skills you can practice between sessions.
  • Hypnosis:
A focused, evidence-informed method that can support symptom relief, habit change, and mind–body healing.
  • Psychological Testing (when relevant):
If you’re seeking diagnostic clarity (e.g., ADHD, learning, mood, or cognitive concerns), we can discuss whether testing through our practice is a fit and connect you with the right clinician.

Ready to explore working together?

If you’re looking for therapy that’s trauma-informed, practical, and grounded in the mind–body connection, I’d be glad to help. Book a free phone consultation to talk through what’s going on, ask questions, and see if we’re a good fit.

Creativity & Peak Performance

I also work with some clients on performance-focused goals—especially creatives, entrepreneurs, and professionals who want to improve focus, confidence, consistency, and flow. This work is still grounded in mental health and nervous system regulation: addressing anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism, and burnout so you can do your best work without sacrificing your well-being.

Is It Just for Artists or Bohemians?

Short answer:  no.  In reality, everyone has a creative aspect to them.  Creativity enhancement can help individuals from all walks of life enrich their work and acquire skills that positively impact their personal lives.

PsyPact Participant

PSYPACT / Out-of-State Telehealth

I provide telehealth services to clients located in Illinois, and I may be able to work with clients in additional PSYPACT-participating states where I’m authorized to practice.

This can be a good fit if you travel frequently, split time between states, or want continuity of care while living outside Illinois. If you’re unsure whether I can work with you based on your location, contact us and we’ll confirm eligibility.
